Referral Assistant


Performs work related to processing referrals. Under the direction of a Referral Coordinator, interacts with attorneys and insurance carriers to provide education and status updates on open files.

Essential Duties and Functions

    • Reviews initial file handling instructions from Referral Coordinator and assist with management of open files through the Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) process.
    • Processes requested medical records and releases.
    • Communicates with Social Security Office to obtain Social Security and/or Medicare entitlement statuses.
    • Receives, screens, and routes incoming telephone calls, provides information, and resolves routine issues requiring knowledge of department policies and procedures.
    • Documents pertinent data in case management system.
    • Supports team cohesiveness through respectful, effective written and verbal communication.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Exceptional telephone demeanor

Preferred Qualifications

    • Completion of college coursework and/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
    • 1 to 3 years of Workers’ Compensation experience
    • Experience in a call center environment
