Medical Coding Specialist

Summary

This individual’s primary responsibility is to review and complete the medical coding and pricing of the allocation worksheets and calculation spreadsheets prepared by MSA Analysts.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Support the preparation and review of the allocation worksheet.
  • Price DME, facility, and medical procedures and surgeries and prescription medications.
  • Analyze and interpret allocation worksheet to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services.
  • Apply appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and fee schedules based on coding guidelines.
  • Enter the appropriate medical procedure code, NDC prescription drug code and price in the Case Management System.
  • Strictly adhere to company confidentiality policies and procedures, safeguarding sensitive information at all times.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned

Required Qualifications

  • CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding, and a working knowledge of NDC codes – minimum 2 years of experience
  • Workers’ Compensation or Liability experience working with multiple jurisdictions
  • Working knowledge of the Medicare system, remittance and reimbursement policies
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy/physiology
  • Strong mathematics skills
  • Strong Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coding Orthopedic and Pain Management procedures and surgeries

Preferred Certificates or Licenses

  • Certified Professional Coder

The base salary range for this position is $45,000 – $55,000.  This pay range provided is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, acquired certifications/ degrees, geography, merit and/or budget for the role. The position is also eligible for monthly bonuses on top of the base salary, depending on production.
