CMS to Begin Using 2023 Life Table

Starting September 20, 2025, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will begin using the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Table 1: Life Table for the total population: United States, 2023 for Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set Aside (WCMSA) life expectancy calculations.

For any WCMSA proposal received by CMS through the voluntary review program, or where any WCMSA case is reopened on or after September 20, the Workers’ Compensation Review Contractor will apply the CDC’s 2023 Table 1 for life expectancy calculations.
